Sharp flattery
It's bizarrely flattering to read someone else's blog and then come across a recommendation to one's own, as I discovered reading Ellis Sharp's the Sharp Side yesterday. Click here and check out his blog: the way he takes a stiletto, nay a hatchet, nay an earth-scraper, to McEwan's novel "Saturday" is a total scream. It starts like this: "A scandal far greater than the Dreyfus case, a betrayal more historic than that of Judas –- the failure of the Booker Prize judges to award the prize to what is quite simply the most outstanding novel of the decade was the single most shocking and tragic event of 2005."
