THE SEX REBEL OF JESUSLAND, mini-chapter 77
77. EVE AND ESTHER
“Ezra wants to sleep with me.”
“Great,” said Esther. “But don’t do it yet.”
“What if I want to?”
“I’d keep him dangling.”
“Why?”
“Give him a taste of your power over him, Eve. Have lunch with him, fly your panties in front of him like a flag, but don’t lower your flag until he is driven mad. When it comes to the arrogant gender, you need to totally colonize their fantasy lives before you let them taste the real thing.”
Eve burst out laughing. She had a much better time with Blesseds than she had with Beloveds. They were so upfront and careless. And she was so grateful to Adam. She would have been all hesitant and careful if he had not liberated her mischievous self with his hornblower’s tongue.
“Why do you want me close to him, Esther? Why really?”
“You know why, Eve. Ezra and I are going to have a fight to the death over the succession to Joshua, and having a spy in the house of the enemy, one totally close to the enemy, will come in handy.”
“But he knows you and I know each other.”
“Once a man wants to sleep with a woman, he is vulnerable. Kingdoms have been threatened by love. Look at Helen of Troy. You’re my Helen.”
“To be precise, your Trojan horse.”
“Exactly.”
It was strange, thought Eve, how the fact that she was an emissary for Esther did not complicate things. In fact, it made it more enjoyable. There was more opportunity for mischief. She was somehow more in charge of the experience with Ezra, whatever that was going to be. It reminded her that her interest in Ezra was not in him, or in having sex with him. It was part of her plan to get to the top. Esther was using her. But she was also using Esther, as well as Ezra. She was the real user. Her confidence in herself was building, the more she met these people who lived in the world of the Blesseds. They already had what she wanted. They owned the cookie jar, but now they had opened the lid and tilted the jar her way. She could see the cookies. She could reach out and touch them. Pick one up. Esther and Ezra were giving her power by using her, and if she played her cards right, she could have that too: the power to use them.
