THE SEX REBEL OF JESUSLAND, chapter 125
125. THE DEFENSE SUMS UP.
“The Prosecutor is right. The facts are clear. A child has been killed.
“But why? Why would a mother do such a thing? Here is this woman, admittedly a divorcee, but an upstanding Beloved, who fulfilled her distasteful but necessary duties as a worker who reclaimed homosexuals from their sins and saved them for Christ. A missionary among men led astray. A female who did good. A pillar of the community.
“The Prosecution says she did it for her career. What career? She was happy in what she was doing. What would have happened to her if she had a baby? She would have married. She would have kept her job. The child did not stand in her way. When does a child ever stand in a female’s way? A child fulfills a female.
“The Prosecutor has noted that the accused refused to identify the father of her child. He says it’s because she’s stubborn, that she is refusing to follow the wishes of this court.
“But ask yourselves, why would a female refuse to name the father of her child? The only possible reason would be because she was ashamed. And why would she be ashamed? Because the father of her child raped her.”
There was an audible intake of breath. This was the bombshell planned by Ezra, right on cue, at the very last moment. The extenuating circumstances.
“Clearly, the only reason the accused refuses to name the father of her child is because she was raped, and she is ashamed of herself, and does not want to admit her suffering to the world. As a good Christian woman, she is trying to keep her shame secret.
“Yes, she has made a mistake. But what would you do, raped by a man, having to carry the seed of a man who had forced himself on you? Think about her state of mind. She was violently assaulted. And now she has to carry the sign of her assault, the seed of the man who attacked her. She has to bear his child, the fruit of his violence, of his bitter violation of her innocence. She has to live her shame every day in the figure of a child, the son of the man who raped her, the continuing sign of her shame.
“Yes, she made a mistake. But it is forgivable. We are a Christian nation, the United States Under Christ, and we know we have to forgive sinners. This female made a mistake, but it is forgivable. She should be forgiven by society, even if she is not able to forgive herself. She should be set free, so she has a chance to redeem herself, and continue her good, Christian work.
“She has been raped once. Let us not add our own assault to the assault of her rapist. Let us not violate her yet again. We must forgive her, like the good Christians we are.”
