Adam's blogbox: seven thoughts on our Planet of Fools

1. There used to be two really stupid leaders in the world: Bush and Blair. Now there are three: Bush, Blair and Olmert.

2. Just like Bush, Olmert acts like he’s a cowboy in Indian territory. He thinks he can subdue the pesky Indians and force them to live on an Israeli-controlled reservation. He’s just found out he can’t wipe out Hezbollah. Next discovery: he can’t wipe out Hamas either, or continue keeping the Palestinians on an Israeli reservation.

3. My advice to Israel – get rid of Olmert pronto. If you keep a stupid leader around, you just prove you’re a stupid nation, like we've proved in the US and the UK. We’ve still got our two fools lording it over us, and we have no idea what their next stupid move might be. Whatever it is, all we can be sure of is that it will be stupid, and make us look like fools. Get rid of your fool as soon as you can.

4. When you're as stupid as America is under Bush, you don't realize that a vote for the GOP is a vote for the terrorists. The GOP, the party of chickenhawk warmongers, is encouraging terrorism against us. What could be more obvious? They’ve made America more enemies than it’s ever had since Washington was president. Ergo, they make us less safe. I'd feel safer if I was a hamburger on a McDonald's counter.

5. Bush and Osama are brothers under the skin, the two fools of terrorism, the frat-boy black sheep rebel sons from rich families (families who happen to be friends). They need each other. Get rid of Bush, a man who causes terror instead of preventing it, and you’ll deal a mortal blow to Osama Bin Laden and all terrorists, since Bush operates as their chief lieutenant.

6. Then there's that other fool Cheney, the fool behind the curtain, a really dumb Wizard of Oz. Funny how nobody listens to Cheney anymore. His last foray into the media, when he said people who voted against Joe Lieberman encouraged “Al Qaeda types”, got very little play. Hillary put it rather well: "I don't take anything he says seriously anymore."

7. We live in a time of fools. Maybe this splendid little earth has become a Planet of Fools. A slowly warming Planet of Fools, which will soon be so hot, we can't live on it anymore. Then where will we go? Underground, perhaps. I can see it now -- an uninhabitable planet, with living human creatures, pale as whiteout, sharing the underground with rats and cockroaches, growing tasteless food in underground water tanks. That's the Planet of Fools we're creating right now.
