Last foreign policy intellectual dies
Foreign policy used to lure intellectuals. Now the last titan, George Kennan, has died at 101, reminding us that mental dwarves and lying swine stalk the globe on our behalf. "He'll be remembered as a diplomatist and grand strategist," said John Lewis Gaddis, a leading cold war historian, who is preparing a biography of Mr. Kennan. "But he saw himself as a literary figure. He would've loved to have been a poet, a novelist." Times obit.
