Nabokov doing well in homeland

'After the fall of the Soviet regime, Nabokov's books were finally published in Russia. Except for "Lolita," translated by the author into Russian--some critics consider this translation seriously inferior to the original--his English-language novels have not achieved the same success here as "The Gift" or "Glory," his Russian masterpieces,' the Moscow Times writes. Nabokov's son, Dmitry, keeps close tabs on the legacy. He's now suing Anatoly Livry, a Russian emigre scholar who has written a study, "Nabokov the Nietzschean," which Nabokov's estate is trying to ban. Livry has called Dmitry Nabokov "a small Oedipus still struggling with his father's shadow," while Nabokov describes Livry as a hardened criminal who once planned to kill and dismember his ex-wife and her lesbian lover. Fuck me with my mom, the son sounds like a giant Oedipus trying to resurrect Dad's corpse.

.....Meanwhile, thanks to lawyer friends I have in Switzerland, certain details emerge regarding Livry’s penal history. The reason for his arrest and expulsion from Switzerland was his written intention to murder and dismember his wife, discovered by the wife’s Lesbian companion while Livry was off in Africa with a girlfriend. On his return, and his arrest at the French-Swiss border, Livry (apparently having learned a trick or two from Humbert) claimed it was only the draft of a story using names of convenience. By the way, both the “tycoon’s daughter” wife and her friend turn out to be bisexual Basel hookers who advertise their services at 500 Euros a pop……………….
