Men get turned on by the smell of women, scientists say, and vice versa. Now researchers have shown that the smell of men that turns women on, also turns on gay men. So gay men and straight women have the same nose for sex.
"Using a brain imaging technique, Swedish researchers have shown that homosexual and heterosexual men respond differently to two odors that may be involved in sexual arousal, and that the gay men respond in the same way as women. The new research may open the way to studying human pheromones, as well as the biological basis of sexual preference. Pheromones, chemicals emitted by one individual to evoke some behavior in another of the same species, are known to govern sexual activity in animals, but experts differ as to what role, if any, they play in making humans sexually attractive to one another." I can't say I've ever been turned on by the smell of a woman's sweaty armpit. Certainly not as much as I have by the shape of a breast, a bum, or a thigh, or the amount and rotundity of space between the female legs where they go into the rump. The smells I do like, almost to the point of a turn-on, include the smell of my pee after eating asparagus. It smells like the sea to me, the origin of life, the primeval soup in which the first molecules of life stirred.
