On blogging
I've been blogging like a virus in a host since January this year, and it's interesting to see what happened.
Stage One: I started blogging to share personal thoughts - a long post about torture in America, for example.
Stage Two: It's developed into sharing what I'm reading.
But: The blogs I like most are those that are written from a very personal POV, like Eurotrash and Bitch PhD. Eurotrash is amazing: she writes from this very sharp, jaded-yet-caring unbuttoned POV. Bitch PhD writes about being an academic feminist in an open marriage with a kid, a husband, and her lover(s). These two seem to naturally expose themselves in interesting ways. They're like new journalists: they inject themselves into whatever they write about.
I'm worried I don't know how to do that: do I hide behind sharing-what-I-read to avoid sharing-who-I-am? I don't get comments very often, which sucks, because that could get personal, which would be cool, but maybe it's because you have to fill in a lot of stuff before you can comment. Tip: give yourself a pseudonym where they ask for your real name, they don't know the difference.
So: now I'm thinking about how to make this blog more personal. What Eurotrash and Bitch PhD do, is project themselves as characters, like the characters in fiction you care about. Come to think of it, they're fictional: you never see a picture of them: they're pseudonymous. Maybe that's why they're not shy. I used to be socially shy, before I got into performance and slam poetry. Maybe I'm shy on my blog. Maybe not. Maybe you can tell my character already from the blog. But I think I should do more self-sharing. Be more character-driven. Do comment if you want.

I've been reading this blog pretty non-stop and it's as informative as a stroll through the BBC's news site.
Be personal if you like, just be unique. I'm thinking it's pretty unique as is, and the serial novel is just hilarious.
Be good.
