Delusion of the Smirking Chimp

I found this definition in a book by Foucault:
“Paranoia: against a background of emotional exaltation (pride, jealousy) and of psychological hyperactivity, a systematized, coherent delusion, without hallucination, is seen to develop, crystallizing in a pseudological unity of themes of grandeur, persecution, and revenge.”
I thought to myself: is this what the Bush Administration is suffering from? Is this what the extreme Evangelical Taliban Right has? Can a collective suffer from an individual delusion? It seems it can. These people need therapy, something that reality does not provide to the utterly stubborn. They’re set for life, therefore. Poor bastards.
