One more reason to love Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp has never starred as a romantic leading man, even though he looks the part. All his roles are interesting, including the latest one. He spent $2.5m on the Hunter S. Thompson funeral, when the author's ashes were blasted into the sky from a cannon on his Colorado estate this past Saturday night, exactly six months after his suicide. In accordance with his wishes, his ashes were fired from a 150-foot tower, topped by his 'gonzo' journalism symbol of a red fist with two thumbs. Celebrity friends, including Depp, Bill Murray, Sean Penn, Lyle Lovett and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band joined Thompson's widow Anita and 250 others at the private memorial on Saturday, and watched his ashes blend with fireworks in the sky. His wife Anita lamented, "He loved explosions."
